FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 05/29/24 – HARRISBURG, PA – With the official kickoff of barbeque season, potato chips are sure to be on the menu, so local kettle chip manufacturer Dieffenbach’s is shedding a little light on the tradition! Did you know that the “Keystone State” could just as easily be called the Potato Chip State, since it is known as the Chip Capital of the World?
Dozens of prominent snack food companies got their start in Pennsylvania (more than any other state). There is a rich history of PA Dutch snack making that has perfected the process of making the perfect kettle chips, a technique of making chips that creates a unique crunch and taste unlike a traditional potato chip. And now, thanks to a partnership with Harrisburg International Airport, folks traveling to and through our great state can witness the new Dieffenbach’s Potato Chips model kettle chip production line!
The hand-crafted model by Elam Dieffenbach, second-generation chip maker and woodworking hobbyist, can be admired in the baggage claim area of the airport now through September. The production line shows how local kettle chips are made at roughly a 1/5th scale: 20 feet long, 5 feet wide, and 9 feet tall. The display sections show peeling, slicing, cooking, conveying, seasoning and packaging.
The Dieffenbach’s brand is also sporting a refreshed package design for its 60th Anniversary, featuring the familiar brand banner. The refresh also includes a new “PA Crafted Crunch” seal, designed to embrace the undeniable success of Pennsylvania snacks across several categories. “We are proud to be part of the Pennsylvania tradition of snacking excellence and offer a PA Crafted Crunch with our delicious Dieffenbach’s Kettle Chips line”, said Bob Zender, Director of Marketing.
Dieffenbach’s Potato Chips invites fans to “Snack on a Delicious Tradition™” and uses only the finest ingredients to deliver their Old Fashioned Kettle Chips from Pennsylvania to the world! Third generation Owner and Chief Executive Officer, Nevin Dieffenbach stated, “We are excited to celebrate our 60th Anniversary with updated packaging that keeps the history of the brand alive, while refreshing the look. The exhibit Harrisburg International Airport is the perfect place to display our chip-making expertise”.
